Makin’ moai - building community the Okinawan way


People who live in Okinawa, the most southern island of Japan lead the happiest and healthiest lives. They are more likely to live beyond 100 years old than anywhere else in Japan, which has one of the highest life expectancy rates in the world.

The Okinawan concept of a ‘moai’ is a lifelong social group that provides emotional and financial support to small groups from birth. This deck shows how Australians can build their own version of a Moai to lead a meaningful, healthy and long life.
